Join us for a program introducing chimney swifts and their life history, natural history, and some of the remaining mysteries!

Join us for a program introducing chimney swifts and their life history, natural history, and some of the remaining mysteries we are striving to uncover. Stay for a chimney swift count as they descend into their chimney at dusk.

Chimney swifts have come to rely on human-made structures, like chimneys, for their roosting and nesting habitats. Mags Edwards from Minnesota DNR Nogame Wildlife Program will discuss these fascinating birds and how we can help them.

Community science efforts are underway to monitor the chimney swift populations. We will hear more about these efforts from Monica Bryand of Urban Bird Collective and opportunities for you to help scout and monitor chimney swifts around the Twin Cities. As the chimney swifts circle and return to the Casa de Luz chimney for the evening, we will count them together and submit our count to the Chimney Swift Roost Monitoring Project.
