Chicago Reader Pride Block Party With Marz Community Brewing Presented by Nue Vodka$10 donationThe first 100 donors will receive 2 tokens ( a $6 value for food and beverages) Proceeds of the day’s ticket sales will be donated to Chicago organizations whose mission is to support LGBTQ communities: Brave Space Alliance, Affinity Community Services, Chicago Black Gay Men's Caucus, Association of Latinxs Motivating Action, Youth Empowerment Performance Project (YEPP), The Legacy Project and Equality Illinois.All ages; Kids under 10 free | wheelchair accessible | Free ParkingChicago Reader is PROUD to celebrate our city’s rich and diverse fifty years of LGBTQ+ community legacy at an all-day, all-ages block party at Marz Community Brewing presented by Nue Vodka and in partnership with Marz, Vocalo Radio and Young Chicago Authors. Featuring a diverse array of artists, communities, and small businesses, the block party aims to be an intergenerational, cross-community effort to honor the people doing the work in our city to amplify LGBTQ+ people and stories, as well as pay homage to Chicago’s LGBTQ+ history and the icons who made it. This inaugural daytime intentional turn up features a diverse array of programming that highlights music and culture threaded through LGBTQ+ generations.Start the day with Drag Queen Story Hour, witness the next theater generation with performances by Free Street Theater &amp; Youth Empowerment Performance Project, groove to the latin rhythms of Sandra Antongiorgi, get your heart rate up with salsa and house music dance lessons &amp; sets, give some snaps to Young Chicago Authors (YCA) queer emcees, get your drag history on with Chicago’s Drag Mom Lucy Stoole &amp; a cast of intergenerational queens &amp; kings, and dance it out to a musical dedication to queer icon Janet Jackson by the all-women &amp; trans band Femme Slash with surprise special guests. Peruse LGBTQ+ historical archives from The Legacy Project and the Reader’s own Publisher Tracy Baim’s collection from over 35 years of LGBTQ+ community documentation. The bar, presented by Nue Vodka, will feature custom Maria’s cocktails, Marz brews, wine and a variety of spirit-free options including Marz kombucha, matte, coffee and CBD beverages, and Redbull varieties. Tokens will be sold at the event for $3 each and can be purchased with cash or card.Proceeds of the day’s ticket sales will be donated to Chicago organizations whose mission is to support LGBTQ communities: Brave Space Alliance, Affinity Community Services, Chicago Black Gay Men Caucus, Youth Empowerment Performance Project (YEPP), The Legacy Project and Equality Illinois. Your ticket is an investment in our local LGBTQ+ economies &amp; communities and we thank you greatly!This is an all-ages event and those 21 and over wishing to drink alcohol must present a valid ID and wear a wristband to be served. If you purchase tickets in advance you will enter through the “Will Call” line and need to present an ID. The first 100 purchasers of online tickets will receive two tokens for food &amp; beverage credit ($6 value).Public Transit:The 35th Street bus picks up and drops off 1 block from Marz at 35th Street &amp; Iron Street. The Green Line transfer is located at the 35th/Bronzeville/IIT Station. The Red Line transfer is located at the Sox/35th Station. The Orange Line transfer is located at the 35th/Archer Station.Parking info: Free street parking is available all along Iron Street, 36th Street, and 37th Street except where otherwise posted. Our neighbors at 36 Squared (3636 S Iron Street) will also be allowing us to use their main parking lot along 36th and Iron as well.Accessibility info: Wheelchair accessible parking an entry is available in our neighbor, 36 Squared (3636 S Iron Street) parking lot.
