There are two styles of chess tournaments
RAPID-Tournament
Rules:
- Registration Ends at 7:15. The tournament will start at 7:30
- Both opponents have 10 minutes on their respective clocks.
- You either lose by checkmate or by running out of all the time on your clock.
- There will be five rounds, and the tournament generally lasts 2.5hrs.
- Clock move, meaning a player’s move is locked in once they hit the clock. Players can touch any piece; they have no obligation to move it until hitting their timer.
- The tournament-style will be swiss, meaning there is no elimination. A win counts as one point. A draw is half a point, and a loss is zero points. At the end of the five rounds, whoever has the most issues, wins!
- If your opponent does not see they are in check and hits their clock, you are allowed to “take their king” thus ending the game.
- A tie for first place will be decided by a 3 minute blitz match. A 1-minute bullet match will decide the champion if that game ends in a draw.
