EPIC Families,

Join us for a field trip on Thursday, January 25th at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center in Enid! The Cherokee Strip Heritage Center has a unique experience planned our our students. Students will step back in time as we rotate through stations, explore history of our state and experience what life was like in the frontier days.

We will enter the grounds of the Heritage Center’s Humphrey Heritage Village and step back in time to the early frontier days. A Townsperson will greet students and families and take us through the daily chores of homesteading in the Cherokee Outlet.

**Students are encouraged to wear period clothing and bring their lunch pails filled with a typical 1893 Oklahoma Territory lunch.

ITINERARY: We will begin our day by meeting inside the entrance of the heritage center.

CHECK-IN PROCEDURE: Upon arrival, please check in with an Epic staff member who will be in Epic gear to receive a copy of the schedule.

• 9:00 Program Begins: Students will be divided into two grade level groups. PreK through 5th grade and 6th-12th grade. Parents will stay with their students during the classes and tour.

• 9:00-11:30 Student Class Rotations

• 11:30-12:00 Lunch- Everyone will need to bring a lunch from home. There will not be time to leave to purchase lunch during our lunchtime.

• 1:00 Field Trip Conclusion

Our field trips are student centered. We ask that you help us by allowing students to be toward the front of the tour and room. Parents and caregivers may be asked to be toward the back of the room so as to not obstruct the view for students.

POLICIES: This Epic field trip is free for students.You will register for a ticket using Eventbrite which will hold your spot for the field trip as a reservation. Parents, please register yourself and each of your Epic students who will be participating. This enables the school and the location to staff and plan appropriately. Our field trips do have a maximum capacity. Therefore, we ask that when registering your students, you only register Epic enrolled Pre-K through 12th grade students so that the spots are filled by our students.

Students cannot be dropped off to attend a field trip without a parent or guardian. You will need your student’s Epic ID number and teacher’s name when signing up for the field trip in Eventbrite.

This is a public event and photographs and or video may be taken during the activity. If you prefer your student to not have a photograph or video taken please let our Epic staff know during check in.

Sensory Bags: Sensory bags will be available to check out for use at this event. Upon arrival, see any Epic Family Engagement team member to check a bag out and return all sensory bags to an Epic Family Engagement team member before leaving the event. There is a limited supply of sensory bags.

CANCELLATIONS:

How do I cancel my family's reservation? To cancel the reservation and allow other students to attend in those spots you will go to the email sent from Eventbrite with the subject line: Your Tickets for the Cheroke Strip Regional Heritage Center field trip. Then scroll to the bottom of the email and click the words "View and Manage your online order." This will open up spots for other families and is very important as the location needs accurate numbers before we arrive.

What is the inclement Weather Plan? If we have inclement weather, we will send out communication by email through Eventbrite to let you know if the field trip has been canceled.
