Event description

Description

The Alabama Folklife Association is pleased to offer our 4th Cherokee Leaf Pounding workshop at Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve. Mrs. Rosa Hall, a naturalist, educator, and Native American living historian will serve as the instructor. She will be assisted by textile artist and living historian Monica Newman Moore. We will be pounding away on The Back Porch, shaded by the pavilion while enjoying the surrounding woods and gardens. In accordance with federal laws, AFA events are held at facilities that meet ADA. If you need any specialized accommodations for other disabilities, please contact the AFA via email: alabamafolklife@att.net or phone 205.956.9888. You do not need experience to enjoy the morning, but you do need to bring your own supplies (see list below). Refreshments will be provided. This program is funded in part by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Daniel Foundation of Alabama, and the Alabama State Council on the Arts. The workshop is part of AFA's Bicentennial Cultural initiative, Common Threads: Sewing Our Stories.
