Attention all D91 teachers and staff

If you're interested in improving your classroom management skills, we invite you to join us on June 3-4 for a nationally renowned training session offered by Safe and Civil Schools.

On June 3, the district will offer CHAMPS training:

At its heart, the CHAMPS approach is designed to help teachers create and implement a classroom management plan that is proactive, positive, and instructional. Using practical strategies that set the stage for appropriate behavior, the teacher is able to focus on maintaining positive interactions. Students become more motivated and engaged in the classroom. This process improves the classroom dynamics by building a strong sense of classroom community.

On June 4, we will continue with Tough Kids training:

Chronic misbehavior often gets in the way of our ability to provide effective academic instruction. The goal of this session is to expand your toolkit with intervention strategies that can support students who demonstrate challenging behaviors in your classroom. You will leave with an understanding of how to support individual student needs, including:

  1. Evaluating how the classroom environment affects student behavior
  2. Identifying why the behavior has become chronic or habitual
  3. Designing an intervention plan that will focus on prevention, teaching skills, and motivation
  4. Using data effectively throughout the intervention process
  5. Creating decision rules for when to fade, maintain, or enhance intervention supports

Attending both days will make you eligible to purchase a credit from NNU. If you've already attended one session in 2023, please let us know so that we can verify your attendance logs.
