Leahy & Associates provides facilitation workshops for all levels of facilitator experience. Our workshops initiate the development of ethical facilitation skills, comprehensive technical skills, and a deep awareness of risk management and judgement.
Level 1:
Challenge Course Facilitator Training + Certification
(May 19-23, 2025)
A workshop in facilitation unlike any other. With 40+ years of team development, group facilitation and challenge program experience, Tom Leahy provides a solid foundation for the new or growing challenge course facilitator.
Facilitation Skills include:
- Creating emotionally safe environments
- Tools for communication, problem solving and decision making
- Development of voice for individuals and group process
- Responsible choice and increasing self-efficacy
- Individual and team goal setting
- Tools for increasing team skills effectiveness
Technical and Safety Skills include:
- Simple physics and the elements of effective belay
- High element setup and operations
- Low element safety and spotting
- Safety equipment knowledge and applications
- Facilitator fall protection
- Appropriate rescues for the new facilitator

Level 2:
Critical Skills for Safety + Certification
(May 27-31, 2025)
A transformational technical workshop that leaves a mark of confidence on everyone who completes its objectives. Initially developed to teach technical and rescue skills, Critical Skills for Safety has evolved into a deeply moving experience.
This workshop includes information on:
- How programming and course design create emergencies
- Medical screening and physiological responses
- Inspection skills for the facilitator
- Low element safety and spotting techniques
- High element systems and set-up
- High element belay and self-belay
- Developing judgment
- (4) steps in programming to avoid rescues
- (6) concepts for high element rescue
- (6) types of rescues and how to execute each

Refunds and Cancellation Policies:
Refunds: To qualify for a refund, you must contact us in writing before the workshop. Workshop fee less a $50 processing fee is refundable up to 30 days before the start of the workshop. Refunds after that date are issued less a $100.00 processing fee.
No Show: No refund
Cancellation: If a workshop is cancelled by Leahy & Associates, workshop fees will be refunded or can be applied to another workshop.
