What is Free Play?

Free Play lets you explore up to 15 games across multiple consoles—from vintage arcade games to Nintendo 64, Xbox 360, and more. Games rotate by station, and time limits/sign-ups may apply for popular games, so everyone gets a turn.

What kind of experience do I need for the tournament?

Accepted Answer

No prior experience is needed. The tournament is casual and not structured like a competitive gaming event. It is designed for fun and nostalgia.

What games are included in Free Play?

We are still adding games. The games we currently have include classics and favorites such as Pokémon Stadium, GoldenEye, Halo, Wii Sports, Just Dance, and more! We are accepting console and game loans up until June 6. To donate or loan, contact us at rita@pavekmuseum.org.

What consoles will be available during Free Play?

The consoles we currently have include Nintendo 64, Xbox, Xbox 360, Atari 2600+, Atari 7800+, PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, Playstation 4, Nintendo Wii, and more! We are accepting console and game loans up until June 6. To donate or loan, contact us at rita@pavekmuseum.org.

Question 5

What console is the tournament on?

The Mario Kart 8 tournament will be played on a Nintendo Switch. Participants will use full controllers provided by the Pavek Museum, not Joy-Cons.

Question 6

Is there an age limit?

Accepted Answer

There is no age limit for this event; however, it is best suited for ages 15 and up due to the availability of Mature-rated games in Free Play. Children 14 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Question 7

What is included in the ticket price?

Depending on your ticket, admission includes Free Play from 4:00–8:00 p.m. and tournament participation. Ticket prices help cover event costs such as staff time, console upkeep, and prizes. All proceeds support the Pavek Museum’s mission and programs.

Question 8

Can I bring my own game or console?

Accepted Answer

Bringing your own games or consoles is not permitted. If you’re interested in loaning a game or console for the event, please contact us at rita@pavekmuseum.org. We are accepting loans through June 10.

Question 9

Is advanced registration required, or are walk-ups welcome?

Accepted Answer

Advanced registration is strongly recommended to secure your spot, as space is limited for both Free Play and the tournament. Walk-ups are welcome based on availability.

Question 10

Can I bring in food or drinks?

Accepted Answer

Outside food and beverages are not permitted. Food and drinks will be available for a pay-what-you-can donation. All proceeds support the Pavek Museum’s mission and programs.
