Join the UCLA Center for Global and Immigrant Health (CGIH) on World Health Day for the fourth discussion in a series of talks about how countries around the world have responded to the COVID-19 pandemic. Brazil has experienced the world’s second-highest COVID-19-related mortality rates. In this presentation, Dr. Luis Eugenio de Souza, Professor at the Federal University of Bahia in Salvador, Brazil will discuss the evolution of the pandemic in Brazil in terms of incidence and mortality rates, highlighting differences between regions and population groups. The presentation will also describe different responses of the federal government and the reactions of civil society organizations, especially those in the area of public health.
