Certified Scrum Professional - ScrumMaster (CSP-SM)

NextUp’s Certified Scrum Professional – ScrumMaster (CSP-SM) training is an advanced course composed of a one-day live instructed class and independently completed assignments. Students will expand their Scrum Master and Agile coaching skillsets and confirm their deep understanding and experience with Agile methods. The CSP-SM is the capstone credential in the Scrum Alliance ScrumMaster track and opens the door to joining the Scrum Alliance Guide Community as a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), Certified Team Coach (CTC), or Certified Enterprise Coach (CEC).

What You’ll Learn

The one-day live training session includes exercises, demonstrations, facilitated discussions, games, and videos covering topics such as:

  • Agile coaching modes and assumptions
  • Theories of motivation
  • Advanced facilitation, non-open discussion, and inclusion
  • Strategies for moving from product vision to product backlog

Students are required to complete asynchronous assignments which are completed independently with consultation and review from the trainer. While the preference is for these to be finished prior to attending the live class session, students have up to six months post-class to finish them if needed. In their independent assignments, students will compile and demonstrate their knowledge in four areas critical to leading and supporting Scrum teams and the advancement of a culture of Agility:

  • Agile scaling
  • Lean thinking
  • Mentoring and coaching
  • Starting new Scrum teams

Students will also develop a Personal Development Plan that illustrates their intended path beyond the CSP-SM credential.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, students will have an active CSP-SM certification as long as they:

  • Hold an active Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM) certification with the Scrum Alliance.
  • Validates at least 24 months of work experience specific to the role of Scrum Master within the past five years.

Who Should Attend

This course is ideal for Scrum Masters and Agile coaches seeking to expand their understanding of Scrum within the universe of Agile and Lean thinking. Participants should have significant experience working in the role of Scrum Master and exercising the core skills of that role such as facilitation, coaching, mentoring, and training.
