What is the cost of the training?

This training is free to attend! The only cost is your time and participation in the class.

What can I expect from this training?

The CERT training covers topics such as basic first aid, disaster preparedness, and community resilience. There is also a training module on fire safety which gives attendees the opportunity to extinguish a live fire in a simulated environment.

Do I receive anything following the completion of the training?

YES! Once attendees finish the training, we will provide each attendee with a CERT backpack. This backpack contains a life straw, lantern, gas/water shutoff tool, and various other items. This backpack is the starter pack for preparing friends/family at home and building a plan.

How long is this training?

The Basic CERT course is held over two days on May 16 and May 17 from 8AM-6PM both days.

Do I need to attend all days of training?

Yes, attendees will need to participate in all days of training to receive a certificate of completion.

CERT Basic Training /Newberry Springs 2-Day Course

One reservation is needed per person. Reservations are only required for the first day, which grants you access to both training days.***

The San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services and the Newberry Springs Community Center invites you to participate in a free CERT Basic Training. CERT educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains volunteers in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, allowing them to focus on more complex tasks. CERT volunteers also support the emergency management mission of whole community preparedness, public outreach, and preparation before, during, and after a disaster. The training will be held over two days and available to all over the age of 18 or over 15 with parent/legal guardian present.
