In this workshop, you will be given a brief overview of what it takes for good products to succeed in the food industry and go through 3 innovative exercises to design your very own marketable product. These exercises are proven models to get the creative juices flowing with a chance to look into insights that might not be noticeable at first glance.

Legal Strategies for Growing Your Biotech Business

In this presentation, Eric will discuss important legal and strategic considerations when growing a biotech startup, including corporate structure, fundraising strategies, and related commercial matters. The presentation will answer common questions, such as how to incentivize a team and key contributors, when to fundraise, and how to avoid giving up too much when negotiating IP license and other partnership arrangements.

Scientific introduction to cell culture

Growing cells outside of their natural environment within a body (in vivo) has been a challenge biologists and bio-engineers have been facing for the last hundred years. But how is it all done? Where can we even find these cells, and what do we even do when we get them? The focus of this talk is to elucidate the misconstrued complexities of cell culture, how to get started, and the various strategies behind growing cells in the mass quantities necessary.

Learning from the cell-based meat patent landscape

A cell-based meat company’s patent portfolio is one of its most important assets. Each company must have a plan for protecting its technology. New companies should also be aware of the current landscape, so they know where they should focus their efforts. In this talk, I’ll discuss what we can learn from looking at the current landscape for cell-based meat, then give an overview of all the major public patents.
