About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join Fort Worth's award-winning Chef Kevin Martinez of Tokyo Cafe, Yatai Food Cart, and Heirloom Garden Cafe as he prepares a multi-course menu as part of Taste Project's Celebrity Chef Dinner and Fundraiser event series!

Taste Project has seen a huge increase in the number of people in need of the services we provide, and summer is our busiest time of year. This fundraising event will help ensure everybody eats during our pay-what-you-can meal service this summer season.

The Celebrity Chef event series features local chef-prepared menus, donated by each chef, with proceeds benefiting Taste Project and Taste Community Restaurant. Taste Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit established to feed, educate, and serve our community so they may "...taste and see the Lord is good". We believe everyone should have access to healthy, nutritious food. Learn more at www.tasteproject.org.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. This event is BYOB. For additional Celebrity Chef Dinner and Fundraiser Events, visit www.tasteproject.org/events.

    About Chef Kevin Martinez
Kevin grew up in Denton Texas where he fell in love with the kitchen at an early age. He attended Tarrant County Community College and worked in a variety of kitchens across Fort Worth including the Colonial Country Club.

Kevin specializes in Asian cuisine and is the chef de cuisine at Tokyo Cafe and operates the Yatai Food Kart. Recently he has ventured out and launched Heirloom Garden Cafe connected to Arche's Garden Center. At Heirloom's the menu changes daily and he serves seasonal fare.

Kevin is best known for the community he builds everywhere he goes. During the pandemic, he worked to facilitate 48,000 meals for service industry workers who found themselves unemployed. His charity work continues across Fort Worth even today.

Taste Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit established to feed, educate, and serve our community so they may “…taste and see the Lord is good.” Psalm 34:8.  We believe everyone should have access to healthy nutritional food. Our vision is to see our community be the response and solution to the challenges our community faces as it relates to hunger.

Our first project, Taste Community Restaurant at 1200 South Main Street in Fort Worth, focuses  on healthy, quality meals made from fresh ingredients. Our menu has no prices. This is a give and take concept. We ask customers to do one of the following: 1) pay what you can afford, 2) pay what you would typically pay, or 3) pay what you would typically pay, plus a little extra.
