Call to African Liberation Day 2024

By Luwezi Kinshasa, Secretary General of the African Socialist International

A call to the best sons and daughters of Africa! Act today to build a global resistance to forward the African revolutionary process everywhere!

African Liberation Day (ALD), set this year for May 25 is a special day, celebrating the 52nd anniversary of the founding of the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP), established on ALD in 1972!

This ALD is happening 110 years after the founding of Marcus Garvey’s Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) and 60 years since Malcolm X took the struggle of African people in the U.S. to the world stage, having spoken at the United Nations in Cairo, Egypt as well as in Oxford, England in 1965.

We salute Omali Yeshitela, the Chairman of the African People's Socialist Party and the African Socialist International (ASI), who has relentlessly for over 50 years led the struggle that colonialism is the genesis of capitalism – the primary mode of production upon which capitalism depends.

Our Party has declared unambiguously that colonialism is the main contradiction in the whole world, responsible for the misery, imperialist wars and suffering against the majority of the peoples on Earth.

The mission of the African Nation, under the international leadership of the black proletariat, is to overturn the colonial verdict born out of the 1415 attack against Africa initiated by Joao I of Portugal. This same colonial attack is responsible for our dispersion, fragmentation and separation from each other with artificial borders to keep us powerless while the colonizer facilitates the looting of the African Nation everywhere.

The 600 year old European colonial attack on Africa is the foundation of the attacks on the rest of the world. Therefore, the African Revolution is in the interests of all people fighting for self-determination against the U.S. led colonial mode production.

The current struggle for national liberation, sovereignty and self-determination led by the African People's Socialist Party has a final objective: to complete the Black Revolution which will result in the destruction of the colonial mode of production and usher in world socialism.

We are witnessing in this period the heroic anti-colonial struggles of the Palestinian people, in Occupied Palestine led by a national coalition that includes Hamas; Union del Barrio, an expression of Indigenous resistance in Occupied Mexico; the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela; Filipino people led by the National Democratic Movement; the Islamic Republic of Iran and many others.

In places such as Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, under the pressure from the impoverished African toiling masses, are beginning to break free from French imperialism. We echo the demand for “France and the U.S. out of Africa!” but recognize that this must happen under the banner of the African Revolution, with the purpose to unite and free the African Nation.

All of the national liberation struggles being waged across the world, regardless of the consciousness of these critical political forces, are converging to one point: the colonial mode of production must be eradicated.

Our Party since its inception has determined to complete the Black Revolution of the Sixties. We firmly believe that the destruction of the colonial mode of production will guarantee the lasting success of all our anti-colonial struggles and open a new era of world socialism.

Chairman Omali Yeshitela almost single handley solved the problems of the Black Revolution left unresolved due to the military defeat of our movement. Never conceding our struggle, the Chairman’s contributions rescued our Movement and placed us on an anti-colonial trajectory.

The Party’s theory of African Internationalism, which has defined the main contradiction as the colonial mode of production, has defeated the bourgeoisie’s “racism” narrative, and has provided the only logical explanation for the crisis of colonial white power.

He formulated the strategic objective to make the demand for reparations a household word, initiated in the building and facilitating of the 1982 World Tribunal on Reparations to African People in the U.S. held in New York.

This and more further evidences that the first successful workers’ revolution of Ayiti (Haiti), the millions strong Movement of Marcus Garvey, the work of Patrice Lumumba and Kwame Nkrumah, Malcolm X and the Black Power Movement of the 1960s, this profound history of the struggle for African liberation is today concentrated in the African People’s Socialist Party.

This African Liberation Day occurs in midst of one the fiercest defenses of the right of expression under the leadership of the APSP.

The U.S. government’s July 29, 2022 assault on the Uhuru Movement exposes to the world the failure of the U.S. ruling class to defeat and keep our movement invisible.

We are indeed everywhere, in Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, South America and inside the white community in the U.S., which means the various fronts of the African Revolution continue to grow and challenge the stability of colonial domination.

We are organizing tricontinental African Liberation Day celebrations in Africa (South Africa and Sierra Leone); in Europe (Paris and London) and throughout the U.S. These ALDs will be momentous mobilizations in defense of the Uhuru 3, Chairman Omali Yeshitela, Penny Hess and Jesse Nevel, as well as the right of free speech for colonized Africans and oppressed people everywhere.

These ALDs are part of the initiative to put the U.S. government on trial in order to squash their bogus ‘foreign agent’ charges and vain attempts to silence Chairman Omali and the Uhuru Movement. Our power lies in the mobilization of the African Nation, over two billion strong and in solidarity with the world’s oppressed peoples.

Today, the world is experiencing a growing uncertainty characterized by permanent crises, one after another: economic and financial, environmental, health, immigration, gentrification, theft of and claims of thefts of elections, wars of genocide and threats of war, etc.

The white Atlanticist ruling class, with the U.S. at the helm, cannot rule in the same old way because of the emergence of new global and regional powers and vitality and successes of anti-colonial struggles.

The US, UK, France, Israel and the rest of the ruling class have been losing legitimacy, political credibility and moral credit in the eyes of colonized peoples and increasingly in the eyes of their own white population.

Today, the main tool the international white colonial-capitalist ruling class deploys to stifle and exploit African people is neocolonialism – white power in black face. Over 60 years of colonialism in black face has shown beyond reasonable doubt that colonialism cannot be reformed.

Under this form of colonial domination, the conditions of existence of our people have worsened in every way and will continue to do so because the agenda of the alliance between the African petty bourgeoisie and the colonial bourgeoisie is only more colonial looting, wars, gentrification, etc.

The salvation of Africa and of the world are one and the same: it requires the eradication of colonialism as the mode of production. This can only happen through anti-colonial revolution led by the African working class. That remains the task of the African People’s Socialist Party – til it’s won!

Join us this African Liberation Day to defend free speech and the right of expression, to advance the anti-colonial struggle and forward the African Revolution.

Join us to intensify the unification of the African Nation and for a world free from colonial powers!

Victory to the African Nation!

Drop the Charges Against the Uhuru 3!

Put the Colonial State on Trial!
