Castles Made of Sand: Photographing the Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest

Join Pro Photo Supply staff and our PNW Canon rep, Kyle Valla, at Cannon Beach, Oregon, for an unforgettable photowalk during the famous Cannon Beach Sand Castle Contest. A local staple since 1964.

We'll meet at the beach access found at the Ecola Inn, and then wander along the shoreline capturing the intricate details of sand-sculpted works of art set against the backdrop of the Pacific Northwest's beautiful coastline and the iconic Haystack Rock.

Prior to the June 15th in-person meet, Kyle will hold an approximately 1 hour virtual lecture from 6:30pm -7:30pm on Tuesday, June 11th.

Canon representative Kyle Valla grew up making annual trips to the coast which instilled a love for the ocean and beaches. This class will be a discussion of the tools and equipment to consider, techniques for better images, and challenges the beach creates. Whether you’re a coastal local or just planning a day trip to the ocean, this online session will give you the know-how to elevate your photography at the beach.

A link to join this class via google meet will be emailed to attendees prior to June 11th.

This photowalk is meant for photographers of all levels of experience. Even those lacking camer gear! Attendees will receive a discount code for the Pro Photo Supply Rental Department valid on rentals placed during the weekend of this workshop. Additionally our Canon rep will have a limited supply of cameras and lenses for attendees to check out and get hands-on experience with.

ABOUT KYLE VALLA

Kyle’s love for image making began over two decades ago while learning black and white film photography in high school. After graduating college with a fine arts degree with a concentration in photography, he began a wedding, portrait and event photography business while simultaneously working in the region’s camera stores.

After more than 13 years working in camera stores in Oregon and Washington, he joined Canon in 2019 as the northwest sales representative. Kyle loves teaching and sharing his passion for capturing memories and the gear used to create these images.

This photo walk is limited to 20 spots with a minimum of 5 registered attendees needed. In the event the minimum isn't met, the session may be canceled and registered attendees will receive full refunds.

This event has limited space due to permit limitations, as a result, registration is required for each attendee. If you are on the waitlist for this event, you will receive a notification, via email, if a space becomes available for you.

In the event of a refund, Eventbrite Fees are not refundable. Eventbrite fees are only refunded if an event is canceled.
