Case Preparation, Depositions and Court Testimony (An Online Class)

Judges, attorneys, jurors, news media personnel, and general citizen audiences who attend trials develop their perceptions of law enforcement by watching how we testify! Accurate, professionalcase preparation,effective depositions,and court testimony is paramount not only to win cases, but to attain a brand of professionalism for both the individual law enforcement practitioner and their respective agency.

In this all important training students will learn the following:

• How to engage with prosecutors in pre-trial preparations.
  
• How to prepare for depositions.
  
• How to testify confidently and professionally to positively impact juries in their decision-making

INSTRUCTOR: Ramesh Nyberg is a retired police veteran of a 27-year law enforcement career with the Miami-Dade (FL) Police Department. He spent 21 of those years as a Homicide Investigator, working on death investigations of all kinds. He has traveled all over the U.S. and to several countries to interview witnesses and suspects. Ramesh was also a member of the MDPD Homicide’s “Cold Case” Squad. Det. Nyberg has authored hundreds of articles for Police, Police and Security News, Law and Order, Law Enforcement Technology, and the Miami Herald. He was an instructor at Miami-Dade’s Training Bureau, where he taught Homicide Investigation, Interviews and Interrogations, and Major Case Management. He retired in 2006, and taught Criminal Justice at a Miami high school, before opening his own private investigation agency.

TARGET AUDIENCE: All members of the criminal justice and legal community (sworn or non-sworn). Training is especially important for all uniform, investigative and support service personnel.
