Monday April 23rd: What’s your elevator pitch?
Led by Educational Alliance CEO, Alan Van Capelle, this workshop will cover best practices to represent yourself while networking. We’ll start with a networking exercise, followed by tips and advice to develop your brand and share best practices. Alan, will also share out his personal experiences of how he overcame life challenges, how they impacted his decision and transforming challenges into meaningful learning opportunities for today’s student. Students will have the ability to ask open questions that they have about college life, career journey and learn new tools, skills and approaches they can apply to their future.
Tuesday, April 24th: Discover your Dream (3D Model)
Led by Educational Alliance Executive Vice President, Jonathan Skolnick. The Discover your Dreams workshop is meant for students who want to get a clearer picture of their (personal) job market. Students will be lead to think and create a 3D model object that represents their future career, what would it be, what would it look like? Youth will be encouraged to ask questions they have and create their own 3D models gaining a step towards getting into contact and applying themselves toward their dream career path.
Wednesday, April 25th: Business Entrepreneurship
Led by a former community member Martin Medina, this workshop offers a comprehensive start-up conversation to help test your business ideas and get you started on the right path. Martin wants to share his personal experience and knowledge, to create a youth learning academy to promote growth mindset while also providing students with the tools necessary to jump start their own business. Gain counseling on how to break down overwhelming tasks into manageable pieces, focus on the essentials and learn specific action steps to get you started.
Thursday, April 26th: Lunch with a Leader!
Lunch with a Leader provides opportunities to converse with EA community leaders in a casual setting. Learn more about career path and industry trends while enjoying free lunch. Students will sign up and be paired with EA leaders who share your career interest. Leaders will share their journey along with real-world lessons they wish they would have known as a teen and learn strengths and talents their matched teen has and share advice on possible career opportunities they should consider. Teens will be engaged in conversation about a current challenge they might be facing (or could face in the future) and provide them with suggestions on how to overcome or address the challenge.
Friday, April 27th: Dress to Impress Party
Edgies Teen Center will end off Career Week with a Dress to Impress Party. Youth ages 13-18 years of age can come dressed to Impress and win prizes based off of their Career Look. We will have a DJ, food prizes to give away, and dance battles. There will also be a dance floor for those who want to shake a tail feather on the dance floor.
*Thursday April 26th and Friday April 27th youth will have a table in the lobby selling their products they have made such as purses, make up bags, head scarfs and hosting a bake sale.
