About this event

Lexington Medical Center now offers Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association training classes for people interested in becoming hospital based doulas. Hospital based doulas are specifically trained to offer comfort and support to mothers and their families as they bring their babies into the world. They also work with other hospital staff to ensure a positive birth experience for expectant parents.

Participants will learn:

-Comfort techniques for labor, including positions and movement support for non medicated and medicated mothers-the roles and scope of practice-the natural birth process-practical experience and role playing affirmation and encouragement techniques.

This is a 12 hour training course that is held on a consecutive Saturday and Sunday.

Each day, class will begin at 8:30 am and end at 4:00 pm. For more information, please contact Dianne Pound at edpound@lexhealth.org or 803-791-2631.

Once registration is received, additional paperwork with refund policy will be sent. This paperwork has to be filled out and returned to Dianne 1 week prior to class in order to attend.
