Frequently asked questions

“How do I get tickets to Commencement?”

Once you have registered to walk (through the Registrar's Office), you may sign up for tickets with the link we will provide to you. Duplicates or additional reservations from family members or friends will be deleted.

“How many Tickets will I get?”

We are pleased to announce that each graduate will receive up to 6 e-tickets. Please select 1 ticket per guest. Toddler and babies who will be in strollers or on laps do not require a ticket. If you do not need all 6 tickets then please only chose the number you need.

"Do I have to wear a specific robe and purchase it from a specific website?”

Yes. This year we are offering a higher grade, eco-friendly regalia that is recycled, more forgiving in its fit! Herff Jones is the provider, https://colleges.herffjones.com/college/capital/. If you've missed the deadline for ordering online, please go to our University Gear bookstore.

“What should I wear to graduation?”

We strongly suggest business or business casual with special emphasis on comfortable shoes. Graduates will walk the entire length of the Capital Center multiple times as well as stand for a few minutes at a time.

“What should I bring with me to graduation?”

Less is more. Heavy bags and purses will be burdensome; instead, use wristlets or small crossover bags. Once you leave line-up in the Arena and walk into the Field House, you will not return to the Arena. Personal belongings are your responsibility.

“I will be graduating with Honors, how do I get an honors cord?”

The Registrar’s Office is responsible for providing an honors cord to you based on your final grade. These will be handed out during line-up IF your final grade warrants a cord.

“Will there be pictures taken of me in my regalia?”

There will be a professional photographer set up in the Field House. After you leave the stage you will have a photograph taken of you. Later, the photographer will reach out to you with prints for purchase. Volunteers will assist with this process.

“Where should my family and friends park?”

All parking restrictions have been lifted for the day which allows for all lots to be used. Please adhere to local and federal guidelines: don't park in the Bexley Neighborhood, don't illegally park in spots that are designated for permits.

“Some of my guests will be in wheelchairs or mobility impaired devices."

All entrances into the Capital Center are on the 1st floor and wheelchair accessible. They may sit anywhere they would like and an usher will remove their chair to make way for their device. If you have any concerns or other mobility-related needs, please email events@capital.edu with your request.

"My guests are hearing impaired."

Hearing Impaired seating is designated at the north side of the Field House in front of the stage. ASL interpreters will be present during the entire ceremony. Please see an Usher for assistance.

What is the Gate Ceremony and what are we expected to do?"

The Gate Ceremony is a strong tradition of Capital University. Many of you walked-in through the game when you started at Capital. Immediately following the ceremony, we all will walk out of the gate together. Instructions will be provided for you and your guests at the ceremony.
