The Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA) is the largest organization advocating for the rights and integration of immigrants and refugees across our Commonwealth. Founded in 1987, we serve more than 1 million foreign-born people through policy analysis and advocacy, institutional organizing, education and strategic communications.MIRA is powered by our 130+ members, including grassroots organizations; legal, social and health service providers; faith-based organizations, and civil and human rights advocacy groups.

Let's make sure EVERY Cape Cod resident is counted in the 2020 U.S. Census!

Census data determine critical decisions such as political representation and the allocation of $675 billion of funding for health care, educational programs, buildings, roads, public transit, and other critical resources that people use every day. If we don&#x27;t have a complete count in Massachusetts, our communities won&#x27;t get their fair share of key resources. Cape Cod&#x27;s geography and large seasonal population put it at a particularly high risk of an undercount. It also has many residents who have historically been undercounted all across Massachusetts, such as immigrants, people experiencing homelessness, low-income families, people in group housing, renters, young adults, and people with disabilities. That&#x27;s why local nonprofits&#x27; leadership is so crucial. We&#x27;re holding a Census awareness event with Secretary of State William Galvin at 2:00 PM, followed by a workshop where community leaders, organizational staff and key volunteers will: <ul><li>Learn and share about tools and resources to develop actionable steps for stronger awareness and outreach campaigns for a successful 2020 Census;</li><li>Be prepared to talk and connect with residents you serve;</li><li>Receive information to help with setting up outreach programs; and</li><li>Build connections between organizations to seed collaboration. </li></ul>Sign up today!
