This year's event will benefit Tucson Country Day School and their efforts to build a Makerspace on campus to support the Project Based Learning education model that they have implemented. The goal is to transform a 1600 square foot room on their campus that is currently an empty space used primarily for all-staff meetings and groups of "aftercare" students. The vision is to transform this space into an area classes of students sign up to use in order to design and build projects. They're planning to fill this space with mobile workbenches, peg boards filled with basic tools, and general supplies that are universally used on various STEM projects. This Makerspace will allow for STEM projects to happen in all grade levels.
