About this event

The legend tells how the Convent of San Francisco in Quito was built by an indigenous man named Cantuña through a pact with the devil. Cantuña, delayed in delivering his work, made a deal with the devil to help him finish the construction overnight in exchange for his soul.

The mission of the Ecuadorian-American Cultural Center, a 501C3 non-profit organization located in Queens, New York, is to promote Ecuadorian culture and empower the community through the arts and education. We fulfill our mission through low- or no-cost programs and events accessible to anyone who has an interest in learning about our customs and traditions. The center was formally incorporated in 2009 with the purpose of providing support to the Ayazamana Dance Group and a dance program for children. The organization has grown and currently supports the additional programs: GED in Spanish, a Computer course, a Guitar group, a Straw Weaving Class, and Community Empowerment through the Arts.
