2024 IN-PERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL ART AND DESIGN CAMP

Are you an aspiring artist or designer? Do you want to spend a week making art? If so, then our one-week art and design camp for Middle School students is perfect for you!

Join us for a fun, deep dive into the worlds of animation, character design, painting, photography, or video. During your week, you will have the opportunity to develop new skills and techniques, explore your creativity, and meet new people with similar interests.

Students pick one major to focus on for the week. Afternoon workshops provide the opportunity to explore new media and techniques that complement what you are learning in your major.

This camp is specifically designed for rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. No experience necessary, just a desire to learn and interest in art and design.

Majors for 2024 are:

• Introduction to Animation
• Character Design (traditional hand-drawing and digital)
• Introduction to Painting
• Introduction to Making and Editing Videos

DAILY SCHEDULE:

• 9 am - 10:30 am Major instruction
• 10:30 am - 11 am Supervised Break - Fun & Games!
• 11 am - 12:30 am Major instruction
• 12:30 pm - 1:15 am Supervised Lunch Break
• 1:15 pm - 2:30 am Major instruction
• 2 :30 pm - 2:45 pm Supervised Break
• 2 :45 pm - 4:30 pm* Art Workshops
• 4 :30 pm - 5 pm Early pick-up, unwind time, or work on projects
• 5 pm Pick-up for all students

* Friday afternoon will focus on the final preparations for your group exhibition in DCAD's Toni & Stuart B. Young Gallery. Parents, guardians, family, and friends are invited to join us at 4:30 pm on Friday for a reception and celebration of all you've accomplished during your week.

LUNCH: Students should plan to bring nut-free snacks and lunch and their preferred beverage.

SUPPLIES: All supplies included.

COURSE CANCELLATIONS AND CHANGES: DCAD reserves the right to cancel, close, or reschedule any course due to insufficient enrollment or to change the instructor. In such a case, the student will be entitled to a refund of tuition and fees. Students will be notified of cancellations or changes as soon as possible and given the option of enrolling in a different class or receiving a refund less the Eventbrite fees which are included in the total tuition and lab fees paid. Refunds will be processed via Eventbrite to the payment method used for the original payment.
