The ticket includes the Lock House Museum open house, conference, lunch, and all day refreshments.

9-10:30 am. Optional. Open House at the Lock House Museum (817 Conesteo Street, HDG 21078)

11 am-5 pm. Lunch and speakers at the historic Vandiver Inn, (301 South Union Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD). Buffet-style lunch includes vegetarian and gluten-free options.

Speakers to include:

  • Scott Mingus, Canals in the Civil War. Scott L. Mingus, Sr. is a multiple award-winning author, having written or co-written two dozen nonfiction books on the American Civil War and the Underground Railroad. Scott's books will be available for sale.
  • Doug Bosley, The PA Main Line in Columbia PA. Doug Bosley is the Chief of Interpretation and Site Manager for the Allegheny Portage National Historical Site.
  • Michael Dixon, The C&D Canal and the Philadelphia/Baltimore rivalry. Mike Dixon is an award-winning historian, public speaker and author. Info on his writing and programs can be found at DixonHistory.com.

The Lock House Museum is located in Havre de Grace, MD along the beautiful Susquehanna River. The museum tells the story of early transportation and the Susquehanna and Tidewater Canal. A 19th century canal that ran from Havre de Grace, MD to Wrightsville, PA. It moved coal and raw materials from the interior of Pennsylvania to Baltimore, Philadelphia and beyond. The lock house was built as the home to the lock tender and the office of the canal toll collector. www.thelockhousemuseum.org.
