This live online event will dive into the experiences and perspectives of Black women seeking counseling. Join us as we explore the unique challenges and needs of Black women in therapy, and discuss what they truly want their counselors to understand. This event will feature insightful discussions, through the use of empirical research and observation to explore some of the nuances, unspoken themes, and salient issues that affect Black women’s mental health and quality of life. This workshop is also designed to assist clinicians in developing clinical case conceptualizations as well as practical tools that are culturally sensitive and responsive to the lived realities of Black women in the United States. Presenter Bio

Renée Bryan is a licensed professional counselor and educator who holds an M.Ed. from Mercer University and M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University. She is the founder of Closer to Eden, Inc., which was created to provide counseling, education and consulting services for the purpose of building mental, emotional, and spiritual health in the lives of others. Renee’s experiences include working with diverse populations, in both the private and public sector. She specializes in crisis intervention, anxiety, stress management, cultural responsiveness, grief and integrative approaches to care.
