Can We Take a ‘SMART’ Approach to Improving Cancer Services in Sheffield? -...
Wed, May 10, 2017, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM BST
The Smart in the title means digitally connected, smart as in smart phone or smart city rather than intelligent or well dressed.
This is the 2nd event in a series of 4 looking at how to improve the efficiency of cancer services in Sheffield. The four events are all under the general umbrella title of "Can We Take a ‘SMART’ Approach to Improving Cancer Services in Sheffield?". The subtitle of this event is - The Future of SMART Cancer Services Utopia or Dystopia
This event is open to anyone who is interested in what a better, more efficient future might look like, and how information technology might help or hinder this process. My aim is to bring together people from different backgrounds and professions to share ideas and innovate together. I hope to bring together healthcare professionals, managers, iICT experts, local government employees, cancer survivors and members of the general public. By bringing together a rich diversity of perspectives it may be possible to trigger new ideas about how to make the current work more effeciently.
Although this is part of a PhD study the aim is that this event will be useful to all attendees by giving space for networking and the sharing of some of the real life issues that you may be facing. I hope that through this series of events that links will be made that could lead to real world change in the future. I am already looking into how ideas that emerge could help inform a funding bid for a new smart health project.
The first event focussed on what the current system of cancer services looks like. What is good, what technology and other information systems are used now as well as what could be better. This second event shifts focus from what exists now to what might be possible. As well as capturing ideas about what an optimistic utopian future could look like this will also capture ideas about what could go wrong.
The rest in this series will be held monthly and will include the following themes. May - Time to Get Critical. June - Emergence. You do not need to have attended the first event to attend this one, nor is there any commitment to attend any future sessions in this series.
The event will be structured around participants discussing and sharing their ideas. So do come prepared to participate and engage. I do hope you can attend. Do feel free to email for more information or if you have any specific questions.
Refreshments including a light buffet lunch will be provided
The event is free but numbers are limited so if you do plan to attend I ask you to sign up. I also request that you only sign up if you do plan to attend. I also request that you email me or provide me with other contact details so that I can send some background information to the day in advance
