Can Code Communities: AI Forecasting & Action: Ensuring an Equitable Future

We develop non-traditional talent and advocate for a vibrant, inclusive tech talent pipeline in our region. We design and deliver workforce training courses and hands-on K12 coding programs, in alignment with the needs of employers, educators, talent and the community in general. The mission is to shift mindset about who can work in technology, remove cultural and economic barriers to joining the tech workforce, and establish and promote pathways to tech careers throughout the region.

Insider Knowledge and Contextual Awareness presented by the AI Safety Awareness Project.

This event will explore the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence and what it could mean for society, equity, and human decision-making. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of AI, learn how leading technology companies and researchers are forecasting the future of advanced AI, and examine the potential risks and opportunities that come with increasingly powerful systems.Through interactive discussions and real-world examples, viewers will examine topics such as AI alignment, bias, automation, misinformation, and the concept of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). The workshop also includes hands-on forecasting and misalignment exercises that encourage participants to think critically about how AI systems can impact communities, public resources, and fairness in decision-making.Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of current AI trends, common misconceptions about AI, and ways individuals and communities can engage in shaping a more transparent, equitable, and human-centered AI future.
