Camping Kitchen 101
Healthy camping meals don’t have to be boring. Come learn how to eat well in the wild (and taste-test too!).
Join us for a fun and informative workshop all about eating well in the wild! Whether you’re planning a weekend car camping trip or a backcountry backpacking adventure, we’ll cover simple ways to fuel your body without sacrificing taste or nutrition.
This session dives into the essentials of outdoor nutrition, including how to balance your caloric needs with your activity level, stay properly hydrated, and choose smart snacks that go beyond the typical trail mix. We’ll talk about the pros and cons of popular food options—from protein bars and meat sticks to freeze-dried meals and DIY pantry creations.
We’ll also touch on common questions like:
- Is it okay to bring treats and caffeine?
- What happens to your appetite at altitude?
- How can you keep food fresh without a fridge?
Plus, you’ll learn tips for low-effort (and no-cook!) meal prep, proper food storage, and Leave No Trace practices—including how and when to use bear cans. We'll share some favorite online resources and books, too, so you leave with inspiration and tools to plan your own trail-friendly menu.
And yes—there will be samples!
Bonus: All attendees will receive a special in-store discount and be entered into a giveaway for outdoor goodies!
