About this event

Campette is an intimate, queer experimental electronic and natural earth skills campout among the redwoods of Northern California. Over the course of a long weekend, campers will experience incredible PNW live sets from queer artists shaping our scenes, explore concepts of queering ecology through earth skills workshops, talks, and activities, and enjoy the incredible and unique beauty of the iconic redwoods forests of Mendocino and Humboldt.

Live Sets:

Experimental electronic, ambient, and dance sounds from the West Coast (with some surprise guests!) will be featured Friday and Saturday. Sets will kick off midday and run into the early morning hours on the main outdoor stage surrounded by redwoods.

Earth Skills:

Facilitated hands-on workshops will explore connections between queer community, nature, and experiential learning. Plan to meet new nature babes while attending plant identification walks, tan hiding, cloth dying, archery, herbalism, animal process, clay harvesting, coil pottery, tincture making, and so much more.

Natural Arts:

Movement-based practices, art, performance, and campfire stories to create belonging and center the experience of being in queer community in the great outdoors.

Food Program:

The cost of a ticket includes two meals a day and bountiful snack drops throughout the weekend. A simple plant-based vegetarian menu, developed to satisfy the needs of most attendees, will be offered by the main kitchen during your stay. A sample menu will be posted on our website for you to see what types of food we will offer each day. You can expect colorful, vibrant food inspired by varying cuisines consisting of an abundance of seasonal fare, local produce, grains, legumes, seeds, and mushrooms.

Food provided from our main kitchen will be plant-based and gluten free. Meals will be mainly vegetarian with vegan options available. Bone broth and eggs will be served daily during breakfast. Some light snacks & treats may be provided in the evening. We encourage everyone to bring supplementary foods and snacks especially if you are used to a mainly animal protein diet.

Location:

Campette is located at Tan Oak Park, about 3.5 hours north of San Francisco, just off Highway 101. Tan Oak Park is a trans-led queer land project that began in 1989 to create a safe haven for LGBTQIA community who are impacted by HIV and AIDs. The land project, its story, and the people who lead it are very dear to us.
