Description

The Cambridge Citizens’ Committee on Civic Unity Invites You to:

Share Ideas for Constructive Dialogue and Community Responses to the Porter Square Police Incident
(Co-Sponsored by the YWCA Cambridge)

Come meet members of the Citizens’ Committee on Civic Unity, learn about our mission and work, and participate in informal small group discussions where you can share your responses to this incident and ideas for how we can create spaces for constructive dialogue and community responses around this and other incidents that raise questions or concerns around civic unity.

The mission of the Citizens Committee on Civic Unity is to foster fairness, equity, unity, appreciation, and mutual understanding across all people and entities in Cambridge. We do this by recognizing and raising awareness of historic, existing and potential civic issues; by providing opportunities for honest dialogue and engagement; and by building bridges across communities to better understand and connect with one another.

This event is co-sponsored by the Committee and the YWCA Cambridge. We hope you will join us for these informal community discussions to share your ideas for fostering constructive dialogue and community responses. While this Citizens’ Committee does not have additional information to share about the incident beyond what has been made public and this will not be a discussion about the facts or details of this incident, we want to foster a space where people can share their ideas for how to move forward from this incident or other incidents that impact civic unity. We will report back to the full Citizens’ Committee on Civic Unity and the City Manager’s Office summaries of what we learn from the group conversations.
