TheCape Ann Museumtells multiple stories, all relating to a single remarkable place. From its earliest days as a fishing and shipping port to its mid-19th century role in the granite industry, to its singular charms of light and sea that have attracted countless artists from the 19th century to the present, Cape Ann boasts a rich and varied culture of nationally significant historical, industrial, and artistic achievement. The Museum'sfine art collectionincludes the largest grouping of works by native son and renowned marine artist,Fitz Henry Lane, as well as work by other prominent painters and sculptors who lived on, visited or were inspired by Cape Ann. The work of contemporary Cape Ann artists is also collected and exhibited. The permanent collection includes fine and decorative arts, and artifacts from the major industries of the area - the fisheries and granite quarrying.

It's magical in the Museum after hours. CAM invites you to tour the special exhibition, Voicing the Woods: Jeremy Adams, Instrument Maker, join in specially designed games in the Museum’s galleries, enjoy a dance performance by artist Dawn Pratson and sip local beverages, including Far From the Tree (Salem),  Old Planter's Brewing Co. (Beverly), and Ipswich Ale Brewery (Ipswich), among others. CAMafterhours is for meeting and mingling with other creative adults and experiencing the Museum in a more personal way. If you're not sure if museums are for you, this evening is a fun way to change your mind.
“Dancing the Woods” Performance
Dawn Pratson was an active member of the arts community in and around Cape Ann and Boston from 1983-2003 as a dancer/choreographer, musician, teacher and creative arts therapist.  In addition to collaborating with many area artists, she was the co-founder of Dancers Courageous Studio and founded and directed the women’s a cappella group, ‘LEVEN, for 12 years. Since moving to Philadelphia in 2003, Dawn became the founding movement and music specialist at the Folk Arts-Cultural Treasures Charter School.
 
CAM After Hours tickets are $20 for Cape Ann Museum members, $25 for nonmembers (ages 21+). Tickets and information at (978) 283-0455 x10 or info@capeannmuseum.org.

Parents are encouraged to consider the nearby Cape Ann YMCA’s Friday Night Fun!
Open to kids in grades K-5, kids will play games in the gym, swim in the pool and dance the night away! Kids are separated into groups by their age and have staff members to supervise them throughout the evening.  FNF runs 5:30-8:30pm, requires parent/guardian drop off and pick off.
