Call Me Spinster is one part kaleidoscopic indie rock, one part porchy holler pop — and every bit a family operation. The brainchild of three sisters in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Call Me Spinster skims nostalgia from psychedelic folk to 90’s synth-pop, weaving frank vocals with ethereal harmonies to make sense of their constantly growing world.

During the writing of their upcoming freshman album, Potholes, Call Me Spinster was a lifeline to the world outside, and a mirror of the lives inside. Throughout the album, the sisters reckon with past relationships, the very early phases of marriage and motherhood. According to Amelia, a major theme throughout “is stumbling into the new, all-consuming identity of a domestic person. So much tiredness, so many endless piles of mundane tasks and minutiae. Time will stand still, then, suddenly, erupt into technicolored joy.”

Potholes is out April 12 2024.

In the music hub of Athens, Ga, a band is redefining what music can do for a community of people that are so often overlooked in this world. The Love.Craft Band is composed of adults with intellectual disabilities, teaming up with neurotypical bandmates to create one of the most unique, inspiring, and entertaining musical acts around. Going into their third year, the Love.Craft Band has brought purpose and pride to its members, and the growth that they have shown in their playing ability, songwriting, stage presence, and overall performance has been immeasurable. Locally the band has been teaming up with a wide array of musicians to put on concerts that bring together the neurotypical and disabled communities. Combining both original music as well as a handful of well selected covers, every Love.Craft Band concert is filled with such joy and further proof that adults with disabilities have so much to offer the world. These adults do not belong in their own bubble, but out in the world interacting, building friendships, and working side by side with people of all abilities. After three years of local success in Athens, it is time for the Love.Craft Band to hit the road and take their talents to venues across America.
