Cal-InSPIRE Parent Café
Pasadena parents and caregivers of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) are invited to attend an evening of discussion and food with other parents.
The Parent Café is hosted by the Pasadena Public Health Department’s California Innovations in Services and Partnerships for Inclusion, Resilience, and Empowerment (Cal-InSPIRE) program. Cal-InSPIRE is a program funded by the California Department of Public Health to find innovative solutions to address the needs of CYSHCN and their families in Pasadena.
What is a parent café?
Parent cafés are safe spaces for parents and caregivers to share their experiences, joys, and challenges navigating parenthood. Parent cafés hosted by Cal-InSPIRE are for parents and caregivers of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) or disabilities.
Parenting a child with a special health care need is not always easy and many parents feel alone. Building connections with other parents is one way to start a support network. In this parent café, parents will engage with each other to discuss ideas for building support, communication, and resilience as a community. It takes a village to raise a child.
The Parent Café event includes:
- Resource table
- Facilitated discussion
- Childcare with sensory activities
- Free dinner
Each parent/caregiver must submit an RSVP (please only RSVP for the number of adults attending- a staff member will follow up to ask you if any children will be joining you).
