The Next Cahoot! is March 28, in the EVENING 5:30-7:30pm, Albuquerque Press Club. You can sign in as a guest of Aubrie Powell or Johnny Wilson. Bring a snack to share that is finger food, and, please, no drinks!

What the #%*& is a Cahoot?!

A cahoot is a mostly acoustic open mic that encourages participation and jamming, because we are all in it together. It's a place to play out new material or jam on well-worn tunes with new people singing/playing along. It is a place to practice jamming, singing in harmony, leading a jam, or just playing solo.

How it works: The stage is set up around a wide pickup pattern mic where multiple singers can blend their voices and instruments take turns stepping up to the spot mics to take a leading or fill.

You can:

1. Sit back, bring a snack to share, chat quietly, listen and enjoy
2. Participate in the jams on the stage or in the audience, up to you
3. Lead a jam and invite people to join you on the stage
4. Play a tune alone or with a group you have prepared with

Expect to play 2-3 songs when it is your turn to take the stage.

How to sign up: You don’t! Tell one of the hosts that you want to play, if it is a jam, and you will be invited to the stage to lead your songs at some point. The hosts will set the flow of the night, helping to mix and match musicians and call the jams.

Bring your instrument, your voice, and a communal spirit. Come to listen, play, and connect. Let’s make music like we are in it together!
