Mozaico Flamenco Performance presents "Cafe de Chinitas" Mozaico Flamenco presents “Café de Chinitas” to launch “Vancouver Asian Heritage Month” at the Sunday Salon Series at the Anne MacDonald Studio in North Vancouver, May 5 at 7:30pm for two sets.What can you expect? Mozaico Flamenco Performance performs famous songs and dances from the great poet, Federico Garcia Lorca, including Café de Chinitas, Tarara, Zorongo and Anda Jaleo. Colourful ruffles, fluttering Spanish fans, Flamenco footwork juxtapose some colourful Vancouver Asian fusions imagined by artistic director, Kasandra “La China”. The show also features original music by composer/guitarist, Peter Mole, as Mozaico Flamenco Performance takes to the stage. Audiences are seated so close to the dancers, they can feel the floor rumble in this cave-style setting with audience surrounding the stage. “Café de Chinitas” promises an evening of intimate cuadro flamenco featuring improvisational flamenco dance with the spontaneity of live musicians. We feature dancers Amber Rowell, Kara Wiebe, “La Sirena” with Mozaico matriarch, Kasandra, and “Los Mozaicos” dancers.Mozaico Flamenco’s “Sunday Salon Series” has thrilled audiences on the North Shore since 2022 in this intimate tablao. The show starts at 7:30pm. Act 1 is a 45-50 min professional show, followed by a Question and Answer period over wine $5 so the audience can meet the artists. Act 2 starts at 8:30pm and continues in a community circle like the tablaos in the caves of Sacromonte, Granada. Flamenco is a vibrant art form that lives on audience interaction in the form of handclapping and shouts, OLE!
