Cache the Canyon

Friends of Government Canyon is made up of a growing group of active volunteers who take pride in the work we do — from grooming trails to facilitating education programs to advocating the protection of the Aquifer and numerous resources found within the boundaries of the Natural Area. We are hikers, naturalists, artists, mountain bikers, runners, researchers, clean water advocates and in general, lovers of the outdoors with one common mission; protecting and preserving the Natural Area.

Calling all Geocachers!  Join us on a hike to hunt for some of GCSNA's geocaches.  
Who is Invited
Open to ages 8 and up; minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian.  Open to cachers of all levels; some prior knowledge of caching is required.  Participants must already be registered with a username on <A HREF="http://geocaching.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">http://geocaching.com</A>.
Registration & Fees
Registration required for EACH participant. Sorry, no group registrations. Natural Area entry <A HREF="http://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/government-canyon/fees-facilities/entrance-fees" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">fees</A> apply; stop at the Entrance Fee Booth to self-pay/register.
When & Where to Meet
Arrive by 8:45 a.m. Meeting location coordinates will be sent via email the day prior to the event.  Plan ahead, as heavy visitation at the Natural Area can cause longer lines at the fee booth, arrive early to avoid delays. 
What to Wear & Bring
Bring your own GPS unit or you may borrow one of ours.  Don't forget some items for trading in the caches!  NOTE:  Cell phone apps will not work on the trails.  Please dress appropriately for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring one liter of water per person.

Group size is limited to 8. No pets please.
