About this event

California Arts Council Grant Application Workshops: A 2-Part Series

In this 2-part series, we'll guide you through the process of applying for grants to fund your artistic projects. These workshops are designed to help you craft strong applications and secure funding for your art.

You'll learn techniques, tips, and tricks that will help you construct a stronger story for your project or organization's application to the upcoming cycle of CAC grants.

We'll cover the structure and process of building grant budgets, work with a customizable template, and share plenty of tips and methods for creating budgets that help you genuinely articulate your goals, values, intentions, and imaginings.

Join us and take your grant writing & grant budgeting skills to the next level!

Part 1: Writing A Soaring Grant Narrative: CAC Edition (with Kyle DeVries)

Writing a grant can feel like letting loose an arrow that travels all too slowly to its target. So, how do you write an application to ensure that grant arrow flies true and lands as a bullseye months after you let loose? Writing a grant narrative that soars is key to that success. In this generative workshop, learn techniques, tips, and tricks that will help you construct a stronger story for your project or organization's application to the upcoming cycle of CAC grants. Expect to do more than learn as we will have some speed-hack work sessions to get your grant language soaring. This is part 1 of a 2 part series to help your 2024 CAC applications be bullseyes, with the second part tackling grant budgeting.

Part 2: Storytelling with Numbers: Building Budgets That Work for You (with Jericha Senyak)

Budgeting for grants can feel really daunting: where do you start? How do you know what to ask for? Where do the numbers come from? In this workshop, we'll treat budgets as a tool to help you truly advocate for your needs and help you think through your own amazing work. We'll cover the structure and process of building grant budgets, work with a customizable template, and share plenty of tips and methods for creating budgets that help you genuinely articulate your goals, values, intentions, and imaginings.
