About this event

  • 6 hours

Earn-A-Bike and Learn-To-Ride alumni of ages 9 and up (parents/guardians welcome too!) are invited to join BWorks volunteers and staff for this free Sunday summer adventure along the Mississippi River. (NOTE: While free, this event does require advance registration, and spots are limited. Everyone who registers needs to truly be committed to attending, as this affects everything from the number of boats to other key logistics for everyone involved!)

At 9 a.m. on June 2, registrants will meet with their bikes, helmets and individual water supply at the specified meeting point (the trail by the water, just east of the steps that lead up to the Gateway Arch). Participants should come prepared to promptly sign release forms upon arrival, and be ready to set off for a ride of about 10 miles along the Riverfront Trail.

At 10:45 a.m., the children and adult helpers will park their bikes at the North Riverfront Park (BWorks staff will transport the bikes back to the Arch-adjacent starting point) and step into Big Muddy canoes for a river and picnic adventure made possible by the River City Foundation. The group will paddle downstream, back toward our initial stopping point, with a stop for lunch (provided) on an island in the river.

The event will end around 3 p.m. back at the starting point by the Arch, where parents and guardians will collect bikes and participants and head home.

Be sure to register at this link in order to participate, and stay tuned for more information in the days leading up to the event. (The BWorks team will reach out within a few days of each registration, to send each family Big Muddy Adventures' online questionnaire which is required for each participant. Please also be ready to confirm your participation in response to BWorks' reminder as the event nears; if we don't hear confirmation, we may give your spot{s} to someone on the waitlist.)

Also: Does your child's bicycle need some TLC leading up to the alumni ride? Stop by BWorks (2414 Menard Street in Soulard) in the days leading up to the ride (between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, or between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday). If you stop by at least a week prior to the alumni ride with the bike, our staff and volunteers will be happy to take a look at the bike and help ensure it's trail ready!
