Our seminar presenter is Kenya Cherry Cook, the sole owner of Cherry Cook, CPA, PLLC (formerly Kenya A. Cherry, CPA). She has operated her firm from 2003 to present. She primarily serves not-for-profit agencies, but also small businesses and individuals. She contracts with not-for-profit agencies as their CFO/Controller handling the process and management of their accounting needs. For small businesses she assists them in the setup and operation of accounting systems as well as provides oversight of their financial records and taxation services.

Prior to opening her firm, she served as the Chief Financial Officer at the NC Institute of Minority Economic Development in Durham, NC. Her previous work experience includes being a senior accountant for Ty Cox Accounting Service and an auditor for Deloitte & Touche in their former Washington, DC office.

In addition to working with clients, Mrs. Cherry Cook has also taught classes for the Women’s Business Center at various sites on topics such as Setting Up Your Books, Recordkeeping, Taxes for Small Businesses and Budgeting.

Mrs. Cherry Cook received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Hampton University. She is a licensed CPA in North Carolina. She is also a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Black Accountants.

She resides in Durham with her husband, Charles and two sons.
