Buses to Defend Democracy Oct 1

Vote Blue 2022 is sending canvassing buses to districts within a 100-mile radius of New York City. No prior experience is needed (1st timers are welcome!) -- volunteers are trained on the bus, often with additional training at the campaign field offices. We cover everything, including your lunch.

One bus will be traveling to Pennsylvania CD-8, a competitive and crucial district in PENNSYLVANIA represented by Congressman Matt Cartwright. Pennsylvania also allows us to help with equally important Senate and gubernatorial races at the same time.

Our SECOND bus will travel to New York CD-3 to campaign for Robert Zimmerman, running to fill the seat vacated by Tom Suozzi on Long Island.

Both districts are crucial in retaining our majority in the House for the next term and need our help.

Anyone is welcome to join us on a bus—no prior experience is required. We ask for a $10 voluntary contribution from bus riders but we can waive the fee for students or due to need. We also ask organizations and individuals to help sustain this effort by becoming sponsoring angels.

FAQs

What should I bring to the event?

Comfortable shoes! A clipboard may help, but usually, the campaigns will supply them. A working, fully charged cell phone (smartphone is preferable).

Why are there no printed tickets to the event?

We will have a list of all attendees and anyone who may be on the waitlist.

Can I do anything to prepare for the event?

Familiarize yourself with the candidates once they are known so your pitch will be more natural and conversational.

If you own a smartphone--either an iPhone or Android--download and install the miniVAN software, which you may use for the canvassing activities (paper lists may be available).
