Battling the system as a SEND parent is a lonely business, especially if you’re a single mum whose autistic son is unable to cope with school.In Burnout, debut playwright Ellie Hyde (2025 Paines Plough/Mercury Playwright) draws on her own lived experience to shine a light on the misunderstanding, misconceptions and miscommunications which plague the lives of so many families going through this brutalising reality.Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
