About this event

Professional social capital is a proven accelerant to learner and worker success in today’s society. Yet, for many Black learners and workers, a lack of professional social capital can prevent them from achieving their full potential.

JFF believes postsecondary institutions, training providers, and employers must support Black learners and workers to build professional social capital that provides them with comparable degrees of access to information as their white peers and disrupts systemic bias in educational systems and the labor market.

Join JFF’s Center for Racial Economic Equity on February 7th at 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET for a discussion addressing professional social capital disparities and solutions for driving equitable economic advancement for all. This virtual event features:

  • Edward DeJesus, Founder, Social Capital Builders
  • Julia Freeland Fisher, Education Director, Clayton Christensen Institute
  • Dr. Kimberly Underwood, University Research Chair, University of Phoenix
  • Moderated by: Michael Collins, Vice President, Jobs for the Future

Event attendees will learn about practical strategies for supporting Black learners and workers to build and utilize social capital and explore JFF’s upcoming Social Capital Framework for postsecondary and employers, created with support from the University of Phoenix. Information on how to access this event will be provided via email at a later date.

This virtual event is intended for employers and postsecondary institutions that are interested in advancing economic advancement for Black learners and workers.
