Building Electrification Contractor Workshop

Building Electrification Contractor Workshop

Overview

The City of Richmond and Marin Clean Energy (MCE) invite you to a hybrid workshop to learn how to get involved w/ Building Electrification.

The City of Richmond is committed to improving environmental sustainability and appreciates the important role our local businesses have in advancing this work. As policies and regulations evolve, the City aims to share information about emerging opportunities and support Richmond businesses to connect with clean energy solutions.

Regional restrictions on the sale and installation of residential gas water heaters will be starting in 2027 by the Bay Area Air District (BAAD) in an effort to improve local air quality. Only zero emissions (electric) water heaters can be sold in the Bay Area after the new rules take effect. Local, regional, and state programs are currently available to support residents in making the switch. As a result, customers will be looking for contractors with the knowledge to install the latest crop of clean, efficient heat pump HVACs and water heaters.

In an effort to support Richmond businesses to meet this growing demand and make a smooth transition, the City of Richmond has partnered with Marin Clean Energy (MCE) and the Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) to host two FREE workshops for contractors to explore available incentive programs, gain practical insights on heat pump technologies, partnership and training opportunities, and installation best practices. Food will be provided at the in-person event and Spanish interpretation will be provided at both events.

This event is also available on Zoom, please hop on during the start time at 8:30AM.
