Building CommUNITY Party will Celebrate Growth of Supportive Space for Local Nonprofits and Launch of New Civic Advancement Initiative!
Special thanks to our event Partners and Sponsors: Greater Miami Civic Advance initiative, Unconventional and Gabriel "GG" Gimenez, ChallengeStar, City National Bank of Florida, Monserrate Restaurant, The Plate Miami, BB Cafe Bistro, Bollywood Masala, Sushi Maki, and more coming soon...
On Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016 community residents along with local leaders across greater Miami are invited to come together for a celebratory evening at the Center for Social Change (C4SC). The party is taking place on C4SC’s brand new 5th floor, which is part of their expansion that has more than doubled the original co-working and event space capacity for South Florida nonprofits and social entrepreneurs. There will be a delicious variety of small bites and refreshments provided from neighborhood eateries including: Monserrate Restaurant, The Plate Miami, BB Café Bistro, and Bollywood Masala. An interactive art installation courtesy of Miami-based startup Unconventional and renowned artist Gabriel “GG” Gimenez, will also be featured.
While Building CommUNITY is free to attend, C4SC is also fundraising for the development of a 1,500 sq. ft. outdoor patio with gorgeous, expansive views of surrounding neighborhoods. This 5th floor patio will provide a new venue for various community events, and the goal is to open it Spring 2017 if funds are raised in time. To help fundraise, C4SC has partnered with a local mobile app called ChallengeStar, which combines fundraising with social media and turns selfie posts into “virtual collection jars.” The UNITY Challenge, a month-long online campaign, will be announced during the event with special gift incentives for posts that raise the most funds.
The Greater Miami Civic Advance (GMCA) initiative asks: How can we improve civic engagement in Miami? C4SC is part of the core team kicking off this new effort to bring together local leaders from business, public and non-profit sectors to determine if a collaborative approach to advancing civic engagement goals can be created. At the ‘One Table, One Miami Summit’, an invitation only launch event being held on Thursday, Dec. 15th at the Converge Miami Building, nationally and locally recognized experts will be featured during a full day of sessions with hopes for attendees to identify a lasting collaborative framework to improve community engagement and economic resiliency in Miami. Ancillary events intended to explore other aspects of civic engagement will be open to the public, and include a presentation at the Venture Cafe Miami gathering on Thursday, Dec. 8th.
In addition, as the presenting sponsor of Brackets For Good (BFG) Miami, C4SC is proud to help bring an exciting new fundraising opportunity to local nonprofits for the first time. This coming March 2017, over 45 greater Miami community-based charities will compete in an online bracket-style fundraising tournament, which will help them gain awareness for their causes, raise funds, and connect with donors in a fun way. Representatives from the nonprofits selected to participate in the inaugural BFG Miami tournament will be in attendance on Dec. 14th to celebrate their selection, as well as the Building CommUNITY event’s other festivities. An official announcement of BFG Miami’s tournament participants list will be made in early 2017.
This celebration is free to attend, but here are some fantastic reasons to donate:
Our 5th floor patio space has remarkable views of greater Miami, that will be appreciated on a regular basis by C4SC's co-working members and visitors
Once it's completed (tentatively Spring 2017), the patio can be used for a variety of events e.g. fundraisers, networking, film screenings, yoga, private parties, etc.
Each $25.00 CommUNITY Builder gift will be recognized by having your name engraved on the 5th floor patio railing, since we want to acknowledge everyone who helped make the space possible
We're thinking of some cool raffle prizes for gifts beyond the suggested donation of $25.00, which will be announced at the party, so you'll definitely want to be present for those
