Session 1: Your code / zoning questions answered.

BUILDING CODES &amp; ZONING RESOLUTION EXPLAINEDOld Code, New Code, Current Code, Prior Code, Multiple Dwelling Law and Zoning Regulation too:At this first session of the 2021 seminar series, Mr. Shauqat Shaikh, who recently retired from the Dept. of Buildings' after a long career culminating as a Technical Affairs Senior Zoning &amp; Code Specialist, will help to bring some clarity to the regulations that we as design professionals need work with every day. The specific topics are gleaned from the questions received from our members.The topics to be reviewed in this first seminar of the series will include:<ul><li>The use of skylights to achieve natural light &amp; ventilation compliance in habitable spaces</li><li>The use of sprinklers to meet fire separation, enclosure or construction assembly fire rating requirements</li><li>Bulk &amp; other zoning regulations applicable to enlargement of small buildings</li></ul> There will also be a real time question and answer period after the initial presentation, during which Mr. Shaikh will address questions raised by the attendees, regarding achieving compliance with the 1938,1968, 2008 &amp; 2014 Building Codes, NYS Multiple Dwelling Law, NYC Housing Maintenance Code, and NYC Zoning Resolution.
