Out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of promoting public health, the City has decided to cancel the Budget Academy event scheduled for March 16th at 5:00PM. We greatly appreciate your interest in attending and hope to host future events around the budget process. ------------------Come grab a bite to eat and learn all about local government budgeting at the City of Durham’s Budget Academy. Participate in a budget process simulation and learn about how Budget Guidelines shape budgetary decisions. We’ll share the annual budget timeline and provide insight on the best time to share your budgetary ideas. Other City of Durham Departments are joining the fun to speak about the ways you can get involved with their work. Whether that’s joining a Board, Commission, or Committee, voting on Participatory Budgeting projects, or providing input on the City’s Comprehensive Plan, there are many ways you can help shape the City’s direction. This event will be held prior to the Public Budget Hearing, which takes place at 7:00PM in Council Chambers. During this hearing, Council will vote on the Budget Guidelines. Think you might have something to say about the guidelines? Come make your voice heard. Before you do, enjoy some food, fun, and education from 5:00 to 6:30PM. Free parking is available in the gravel parking lots located at the corner of Cleveland Street and Seminary Avenue. Landmark is First Baptist Church (414 Cleveland Street).----------------------------------------------------------------------------¿Cómo decide la ciudad de Durham dónde se asigna el dinero para brindar servicios públicos? ¿Y cuándo es el mejor momento para compartir sus ideas sobre el presupuesto para incluirlas en el presupuesto anual de la Ciudad? Venga y disfrute de algo de comer y aprenda todo sobre la elaboración del presupuesto del gobierno local en la Academia de Presupuesto de la Ciudad de Durham. Participe en una simulación del proceso presupuestario y aprenda cómo las Pautas del Presupuesto dan forma a las decisiones.
