About this event

Bubbles Brown is a one-man blues band, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist originally from Florida now based and performing full time in New Orleans, LA.

In 2007, he would sell everything he owned for a plane ticket to Chicago, IL to pursue music. For 15 years, he cut his teeth on blues and folk in the subways as well as on the streets of Chicago busking. After several years, he met Washboard Ben after opening up for his country band at a Saturday night house show. They became good friends. Soon after the duo began performing and recording together for a decade. They independently released two records which propelled them to receive local and national recognition. They opened for some big names like The Doors with Robby Krieger (at City Winery Chicago), Lilly Mae (at Old Town School of Folk Music/Schubas Chicago), The Weeks, and Southern Avenue (at Lincoln Hall Chicago). The duo was also selected to be musician in residence for 2 weeks in Spring Green, WI. This would be a bookend for the duo where after the two went separate ways.

In 2021, Bubbles left Chicago to hit the road solo where he showcased his unique one-man blues band encompassing all of the musical nuance he had learned over the years. He traveled from Duluth to Miami showcasing his incredible skills eventually settling in New Orleans where he is now a resident musician street performing in the French Quarter and continues to tour the country. He can be found playing weekly at the Apple Barrel Bar on the world-famous Music Row, Frenchmen Street.

From Mississippi Hill Country trance, bottleneck slide guitar, hot jazz, R&B, gospel, soul, country to Appalachian clawhammer banjo. He took musical influences from anywhere and everywhere, digested them, and produced a sound totally unique, inspiringly fresh, and thoroughly compelling. Well-traveled, well-respected, and well-loved, Bubbles Brown’s lean, archaic setup evoke the home-spun, kitchen-sink aesthetic while blending into it an aggressive and modern electricity to create a sound at once both nostalgic and distinctly progressive. The Bubbles Brown sound defies expectations, and his rich and reverent brand of music greatly exceeds the sum of its parts.
