Experience, understand, and learn the most advanced functional exercise program for seniors ages 55+, the GrandMasters "Method". This dynamic and practical course, created and presented by a seasoned physical therapist (and a "senior"), will dispute the numerous myths and misconceptions about the elderly. Since 2015, this method has been used on 100,000+ client encounters. We need to enhance the standard plan of care for a senior to include more functional training and fewer "quad sets and toe ups". What does this mean? He has probably seen, treated, and gotten things right (and wrong!) with more seniors as patients and clients than you may ever treat or train in your entire careers! Use his experience!

Key metrics of our "aging world" and the cost of aging poorly set the stage for why this course is necessary. Orthopedic, neurological, and metabolic co-morbidities are discussed in depth and we lean into how the general health of your patient may be the key to YOUR success as a therapist or a trainer. Indications & contraindications necessary to implement a safe & effective FUNCTIONAL rehabilitation care plan and exercise program are emphasized. More on what is functional toward the end...

Evaluation highlights with valid and reproducible Senior Fitness Tests are performed during a practical hands-on session. And regarding the "old" Senior Fitness Tests...how good are they? Should we be redefining what seniors need to age well?

The foundational movements implemented to maximize functional ADLs are performed with a critical eye on how the elderly move throughout their day. A myriad of therapeutic activities and exercises inclusive of progressions are highlighted to deal with many diagnoses concerning our seniors including osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, early onset dementia, and balance disorders.

This seminar will improve patient outcomes and enhance compliance challenges by maximizing patient/client retention.

In the end, attendees will further their knowledge of the evolving healthcare system as they gain significant and innovative ways to create a post-rehab, "cash pay" exercise program. The course creator & presenter has developed the contents of this course for all levels of experience & educational knowledge including PT, PTA, nurse or allied health practitioners, ATC, personal trainers, gym/facility owners. Don't miss this exciting course as it unveils the future of caring for, not coddling, the greatest generation of our time!

The TUG test with a 94 year old who lives independently. Yes...we should be expecting more of our senior patients.

Ed has been a physical therapist for almost 40 years. He has a master’s degree and a PhD in Business, has been a business owner several times, the Vice President of a publicly traded company, the Chairman of the Board, a researcher and author, and an international lecturer…he’s kind of a Renaissance Man within the senior health and wellness realm. He is also the test subject of many of our experiments, whether it be physical, nutritional, or supplemental!

Ed walks the walk and talks the talk. Not much can derail him from making improving his physical performance a part of his daily life. If it’s not important to him, how can he preach it to his senior athletes and business partners? His fitness resume includes a 3:58 Fran time, 25 rounds of Cindy, a 405# Deadlift, 330# Backsquat, and a 165# Press…at age 62!

His athletes are like his kids – he wants them to get straight As and excel in Phys. Ed…so when you get a “C” he’s peeved! With his background, he can design, execute, and manipulate an exercise program and an athlete to achieve the result he wants.

Fast forward from educating his therapy colleagues on advances in knee rehabilitation to young athletes in a CrossFit gym to, now, seniors in a functional fitness gym…nothing has changed. Educate, execute.
