BrightSource Westea Startup Genius Conference

BrightSource is California's first teen-oriented growth hacking project, based in San Ramon, CA.Our business growth hackathons are day-long events where business-oriented teens compete to devise the best solutions to real marketing problems local companies face. At these hackathons, we strive to leverage teens'​ soft skills in online marketing to create uniquely impactful digital marketing strategies for our client companies and meaningful work opportunities for our competitors.

<H2>OVERVIEW</H2>
<P>Register now for BrightSource's second case competition! We have partnered with Westea, a Pleasanton-based boba shop and are sponsored by Startup Genius,<SPAN> a company that provides student entrepreneurs with real-world internships and an innovation development SaaS platform connecting education with the innovation economy. </SPAN>The competition topic area is social media marketing, and there will be lunch and boba :) </P>

<H2 CLASS="font_2">PURPOSE</H2>
<P>BrightSource is a student-run community service project with the objective of connecting business-oriented high schoolers with local small businesses. <STRONG>We aim to do this by hosting hackathon-styled business competitions where high schoolers compete to devise the best solutions for real problems that local enterprises have. For this conference, competitors will compete to create the best online marketing campaign for Westea.</STRONG><BR></P>
<P>With this project, we hope to provide local businesses with an opportunity to connect with the community and receive community-crowdsourced consulting; we also hope to provide students with an opportunity to network in person with business leaders and gain experience in real-world problem solving. If you are passionate about business and wish to gain more experience with it, join us at our case competition! <BR></P>
<H2 CLASS="font_2">HOW IT WORKS</H2>
<P CLASS="font_8"><SPAN>Like a hackathon, students will be presented with a business problem at the start of the competition and will spend about 8 hours <SPAN>forming teams of three</SPAN>, brainstorming solutions, writing a 2-3 page report, and pitching their idea in a short presentation to the partnered business owners. The winning teams will receive monetary prizes ranging up to $150 as well as opportunities to implement their ideas and get internships and/or paid jobs. <STRONG>For this conference, both our partner, Westea, and our sponsor, Startup Genius, are offering internships.</STRONG></SPAN></P>
<P CLASS="font_8"><STRONG>No formal clothing is required to compete.</STRONG></P>
