We’ve been working for two years to bring this wonderful band to Saratoga. Their captivating indie folk/pop songs sound like an invitation to come and see, to find refuge and rest, to journey and wonder, to laugh and cry, to share joy and sing along. They blur the lines between chamber folk and progressive bluegrass, drawing on everything from country and classical to pop and choral music with lush harmonies and dazzling fretwork. There’s a candor and simplicity in their lyrics that cuts straight to the heart of things. Their celebration of community, connection, and the power of belonging feels tailor-made for these challenging times.

Influenced by modern folk pioneers Watchouse, The Milk Carton Kids and Aoife O’Donovan, opening duo River & Rail have crafted a rich yet close acoustic sound that leans into dynamics, nuanced embellishment, and out-of-the box musical changes that hearkens back to the 70s acoustic music of Bread and Joni Mitchell.

The Bright Series is made possible by a generous gift from Kevin & Claudia Bright.
